Eric Voorhees started making hitch adapters in 2020 when he ran into a problem. After Eric bought a snowmobile/snowmachine for this family to use when out recreating (ice fishing, cabin trips, hunting, etc.) in the Alaskan winters, he quickly realized that many of the common store-bought plastic tow sleds (Otter Outdoors, Pelican, Jet Sled. etc.) do not easily connect to pintle hitches, a common hitch connection, especially in northern/cold climate areas. What Eric thought would be a quick and easy solution to buy an adapter to connect his tow sled to the pintle on his machine, quickly turned time-consuming, costly, and complicated.
Eric first realized that Ski-doo doesn't make a C-style or "flapper" hitch that would mount to the bumper of his machine. He then realized that there are very few available parts to make pintle connections between tow sleds and machines. When going to hardware stores in Anchorage, Alaska he was told more than once that each year other winter recreationists come to their stores trying to solve the same problem that Eric was experiencing. It was then that Eric realized that there was a need that wasn't being met and that if he could get his hitch adapter in the hands of others, people could spend more time on the trail and less time (and money and frustration) trying to solve this problem. JKEN Outdoors has since sold nearly 400 hitch adapters to customers throughout Alaska, and as far away as Michigan and New Hampshire.
Eric and his wife, Nan, proudly operate this small, Alaskan-based business with primary goals of providing quality products to their customers while treating them with honest and responsive customer service.
