Whether you call them snowmobiles or snowmachines, we can all agree they are fun to ride. For recreation, utility or another purpose, these machines are often used for towing. Whether home-made or store-bought, there are many ways to connect a towed sled to a machine, and the JKEN Outdoors hitch adapter makes that connection happen.
For outdoor vehicles (ATVs, UTVs, etc.) and snowsports specifically, there are three predominant hitch types: a standard ball hitch (not pictured below), a pintle/J-hook connection and a C-style or "flapper" connection. Whatever the connection type, it is essential that the towed sled is reliably connected to the machine.
The pintle connection uses a pintle/J-hook (on the tow vehicle/machine) and a lunette ring (on the tow sled).
A C-style/flapper connection uses male/female ends of a hitch and a vertical pin to connect together.
Pintle connections are known for their versatility, wide range of motion, durability, and strength. These qualities make pintle connections preferred for heavy equipment, agriculture, and military applications. Pintle connections are widely used in snowmobile/snowmachine applications and are especially common in Canada and Alaska. The JKEN Outdoors hitch adapter creates a more reliable connection to your machine.
The C-style/flapper connections are typically not built for heavy-hauling/freight applications and have significantly less range of motion. Additionally, users can be plagued with slow connections/disconnections and fumbling with hitch pins and cotter pins to try to prevent the machine and tow sled from being unexpectedly/unknowingly disconnected during use.
Otter Outdoors (and other manufacturers) make several types of towable sleds for purchase. They also sell hitches that connect the tow sled to the machine. Users often discover the C-style connection from the Otter hitch does not easily connect to the machine’s pintle. If you have a pintle connection on your machine, you will have problems connecting your tow sled to your machine. The JKEN Outdoors hitch adapter is the solution so you can spend more time in the outdoors and less time trying to solve equipment compatibility problems.

The JKEN Outdoors hitch adapter is a 'bolt-on' for Otter Standard, Otter Large, and Pelican hitches and connects directly to pintle connections on machines.
The JKEN Outdoors hitch adapter also connects to most C-style/flapper connections on machines, so by using our hitch adapter, your tow sleds will be compatible with pintles and flapper-style hitches.
